Abstract

This study examines vocabulary books and word chain game in learning vocabulary on the 7th-grade students at SMP NU Riyadlul Qur'an Ngajum to improve their vocabulary mastery. The method of this study uses a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach with it’s procedure (planing, implementing, observing and reflecting). The results showed significant improvements in students' vocabulary scores after two intervention cycles. In the first cycle, the average score of students are  68 or 52% of students reaching the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). In the second cycle, the average score of them increased to 81.5, with 89.68% of students achieving the MMC. These findings suggest that this strategy effectively enhances student engagement and vocabulary comprehension.
