Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve student learning outcomes on the Pythagorean theorem material using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model. This type of research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) which is carried out during the second cycle. This research was carried out in 5 steps, namely: (1) orienting students to the problem (2) organizing students to learn, (3) assisting individual and group investigations, (4) developing and presenting the results of the work and (5) analyzing and evaluating the solution process problem. The research subjects were 20 students in class VIII B at SMPN 3 Pasirian in Lumajang City. The data collection technique was carried out by giving pre-test and post-test questions regarding the Pythagorean theorem. The results of the research show: a) The percentage of completeness of student learning outcomes at the beginning of the meeting was 0.0% with an average value, b. The percentage of completeness in cycle I was 46% with an average value of 67.5, c) The percentage of completeness in cycle II was 90% with an average value of 82.25. Based on the results of research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning (PBL) learning model can improve student learning outcomes on the Pythagorean theorem material.
