CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS BETWEEN ENGLISH AND BATAK SIMALUNGUN LANGUAGE IN QUESTION WORD

The focus of this research is to determine the similarities and differences in question terms used in the Batak Simalungun language and English. The research design used is Qualitative Descriptive. Data collection techniques include documentation. Researchers use descriptive analysis to view data and analyze data. In English there are five question words: “What”, “Where”, “Who”, “How”, “When”, and “Why”. In the Batak Simalugun language there are seven question words: "Aha", "Ija", "Ise", "Mase", and “Sonaha” Six correlations, or similarities, between English and Batak Simalungun in word tests are demonstrated by these findings. However, there are also differences between Batak Simalungun terms and English.
