Physical education is an integral part of the origins of education aimed at developing aspects such as physical fitness, motor skills, emotional control and a healthy lifestyle. Children with mental retardation are a condition where mentally retarded children experience retardation due to the optimal development of their motor abilities, especially gross motor skills, or gross motor learning, the goal is to learn body movements that require balance and coordination between the extremities using several large muscles. The research form of this research is experimental research. The population of this study was specifically students of the ABD Kedung Kandang State SLB Malang City, totaling 4 people. The samples taken in this study were all mentally retarded students at ABD State SLB Kedung Kandang Malang, totaling 4 people. The discussion in this study focused on the effectiveness of cheerful gymnastics to improve gross motor skills of mild mentally retarded children at Special Schools ABD ABD Kedungkandang Malang City. In carrying out this research, before the pre-test was carried out, the researcher first gave an explanation about gymnastics and gave examples of the steps to be carried out in cheerful gymnastics and made children interested and excited to know the steps and implementation of cheerful gymnastics to be carried out. The explanation detailed in the research discussion is that rhythmic gymnastics is effective in improving the motor skills of eight mild mentally retarded children at the ABD Kedungkandang Special School, Malang City. This shows the production of the t-test results obtained with sig 0.001, which means that t-table 0 is smaller than Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, which means that the independent variable has a significant effect on the dependent variable. It can be concluded that rhythmic gymnastics is effective in improving gross motor skills in mild mental retardation at SLB ABD Kedungkandang Malang City.
