Abstract

Along with the increase in technology that is increasingly sophisticated and modern communication media, such as television, radio, magazines, and the internet, society experiencing changes in the media of communication and entertainment. So many kinds of local arts and culture in Indonesia provides opportunities for various parties to be passed on to the younger ones generations and use it as a medium of communication. One of the inherited local cultural arts from generation to generation is Wayang Golek (Wayang Golek). Wayang Golek did exist used by leaders and the government in conveying information, knowledge and teachings to the public public. Information dissemination which is still centralized in urban areas causes information gaps between people living in urban areas and people living in rural areas. Meanwhile, Most of the people in West Java still live in rural areas. This is one of the reasons why is this Wayang Golek folk art media still used in maintaining cultural heritage and values as well as a medium for disseminating information. This research is related to the maintenance of cultural heritage and development communication strategy. The theory used in this paper is La Culture's Hereditary Theory which explains the concept of cultural inheritance. While the method used is the method phenomenology, where research is focused on phenomena or events that are unique and special. In the research, the use of wayang golek art as a medium of communication is something unique because it is temporary With increasingly modern technology, some parties in West Java still maintain traditional communication media, namely the performing arts of wayang golek. In the development of Wayang Golek in West Java, almost all stakeholders involved by using a system of conservation, reinterpretation, and revitalization.
